The overall mission of the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) is to observe and understand Australian weather and climate and provide meteorological, hydrological and oceanographic services in support of Australia's national needs and international obligations. In performing this mission its work includes a wide range of activities related to oceanography and marine meteorology, in the areas of monitoring, service provision, research and international cooperation. Many of these activities are conducted in partnership with other bodies.
