If an organisation cannot deliver data in the preferred Water Data Transfer Format (WDTF) it can provide the data in the format it currently has available, such as CSV or Excel. Data delivered in this manner should be consistent and follow the specified data file content and naming conventions outlined in our guidelines. This will assist with the ingestion of data into the Bureau's systems.
In order to extract data from these files and into a national hydrologic database, the Bureau will need to interpret and reformat the data. In many cases we will need to contact the organisation to develop an understanding of the data provided. Interpreting these data files is a significant exercise and it may be a several months before the Bureau contacts the organisation.
Please note: Time series data is not to be provided to the Bureau in Binary, PDF, Word document or unstructured text formats.
