Water Information Industry Seminars 2009
The National Water Information Seminar Series 2009 featured presentations by senior Bureau and State and Territory representatives highlighting progress toward achieving our water information mission and describing the water information products planned for delivery over the next 6-18 months.
The presentations demonstrate how:
- the accuracy, coverage and currency of Australia's hydrologic observing networks is improving
- water data from across the nation is being gathered and harmonised into a standard national format, and spatially-enabled for easy access by users
- the Australian Water Resources Information System (AWRIS) will evolve over the next three years, following initial launch in early 2010
- national water accounting standards have been developed and are being piloted in seven high-profile water management areas
- the National Water Account and Water Resources Assessments will become comprehensive annual water products, commencing early 2011
- a range of new water availability forecasting products, currently in early stage development, promise to enhance future water resources operations and planning.
