eReefs products previewed
The start of a new generation of environmental intelligence products and services
The Marine Water Quality Dashboard, which uses satellite images to generate timely and accurate water quality information, was demonstrated, alongside a sample of the outputs from the modelling which will span the full scale of the Great Barrier Reef from catchment to ocean. Several potential users of eReefs products shared ‘user stories’ about how the eReefs tools will assist them in their roles.
The Bureau is the implementing agency for eReefs—a public–private collaboration between Australia’s leading operational and scientific research agencies, government, corporate Australia and Reef managers.
eReefs is a collaboration between the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Bureau of Meteorology, CSIRO, Australian Institute of Marine Science and the Queensland Government, supported by funding from the Australian Government's Caring for our Country initiative, the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance, the Queensland Government and the Science and Industry Endowment Fund.
The project represents the start of a new generation of environmental intelligence products and services offered under the framework of the National Plan for Environmental Information.
