The Australian Water Accounting Standard 1, released in October 2012, guides the preparation and presentation of general purpose water account reports. To further support the comparability, transparency and integrity of these water account reports, the Standard requires they are independently assured.
Independent assurance is a key element to enhancing the quality of reported water information. It enhances the confidence of report users when making and evaluating decisions about the allocation of water resources.
The Bureau in partnership with the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board has prepared the Exposure Draft of Australian Water Accounting Standard 2 which is available on the Bureau's website for comment.
