The 2018-19 financial year was the second warmest financial year on record. Dry conditions prevailed across much of Australia, aside from central and northern Queensland which experienced very much above average rainfall.

Over six Sydney Harbours worth of water passed through Birdsville on its way to Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre between the start of February and end of April, with plenty more to come.
