25.1.2.2 Allocation announcement on regulated flows – High security, Individual irrigator holder

Supporting information

The volume recognised in the water accounting statements (3,490 ML) represents the allocation announcement of high-reliability water shares for individual irrigators in the Melbourne region (2,094 ML) and that available from the Maribyrnong catchment for the bulk entitlement held by Melbourne Water (1,396 ML).

The table below shows the allocation announcements relevant to the Werribee Irrigation District, Bacchus Marsh Irrigation District and other irrigators in the Werribee system in the Melbourne region during 2009–10.

Quantification approach

Data source

Southern Rural Water: Irrigation Planning Module Generation 2 database.
Melbourne Water.

Data provider

Southern Rural Water and Melbourne Water.

Method

Throughout the water year, Southern Rural Water made allocation announcements (determinations) that specified the water that was available to holders of water shares. Announcements were based on the water system source and the reliability of an entitlement. Allocation announcement details appear in ‘Region notes’ under ‘Water rights, entitlements, allocation and trade’.

The resource manager usually announces an allocation as a percentage of the entitlement volume and as an increase since the last determination. To calculate the volume of the announcement, the percentage was multiplied by the total entitlement of the licence class. The total entitlement of High Reliability Water Shares is 15,016.6 ML.
