26.1.9.1 Adjustment and forfeiture of allocation on regulated flows—bulk irrigator

Supporting information

The volume recognised in the water accounting statements (154,684 ML) represents the volume of water allocated during 2009–10 for regulated entitlements in the Ord River Irrigation Area that was not abstracted during 2009–10, and is therefore forfeited.

Quantification approach

Data source

Western Australian Department of Water: Water Resource Licensing (WRL) database and the Water Information (WIN) database.

Data provider

Western Australian Department of Water.

Method

Any unused allocation cannot be carried over to a subsequent licence year. The portion of a regulated entitlement that has not been abstracted at the end of the reporting period is forfeited. The forfeiture is calculated as:

Line item 25.1.9.1 Allocation announcement on regulated flows—bulk irrigator

minus

Line item 14.7.9.1 Allocation diversion of regulated surface water flows—bulk irrigator.

Entitlements that are terminated during the reporting period are also considered to be forfeitures.

Uncertainty

Ungraded.

Assumptions, approximations and caveats/limitations

Forfeiture is calculated based on available abstraction data. Where the abstraction data are estimated, the forfeiture is subject to the same assumptions and limitations of the abstraction data. Refer to Line item 14.7.9.1 Allocation diversion of regulated surface water flows—bulk irrigator.
