The volume recognised in the water accounting statements (4,591 ML) represents the volume of:

water allocated during 2009–10 for groundwater entitlements that was not extracted during 2009–10, and is therefore forfeited
entitlements that were terminated during 2009–10.

The breakdown of forfeitures and terminations according to the stated licence entitlement purpose is provided in the table below.

Method

Any unused allocation cannot be carried over to a subsequent licence year. The portion of a groundwater entitlement that has not been abstracted at the end of the reporting period is forfeited. The forfeiture is calculated as:
