2.1 Water table aquifer

Supporting information

This line item represents the entitled maximum volume (volumetric limit) that can be extracted from a portion of the Central Lockyer water supply scheme (WSS) (9,340 ML) defined as the Central Lockyer Benefitted Area. The entitled maximum volume extractable from the Non-Benefitted portion of the Central Lockyer WSS could not be quantified as a volumetric limit has not been established.

Groundwater aquifers do occur elsewhere within the South East Queensland (SEQ) region; however, there are currently no models for these, and therefore their volume could not be quantified accurately.

Aquifers within the SEQ region that at this time could not be quantified accurately and were therefore not included in the water accounting statements are:

  • Buaraba Creek Alluvium
  • Cressbrook Creek GMA
  • Lower Lockyer Creek Alluvium
  • Ma Ma Creek Alluvium
  • Tenthill Creek Alluvium
  • Upper Lockyer Creek Alluvium
  • Flagstone Creek Alluvium
  • Upper Laidley Creek Alluvium
  • Warrill Valley GMA.

All these aquifers occur within the Moreton water resource plan (WRP) area. No groundwater management areas (GMAs) are located within the Logan Basin or Gold Coast WRP areas.
