Wet season rainfall was above average in 2017–18, similar to last year, which may contribute to the region's second consecutive annual increase in aquifer storage. Water use is expected to be similar to the previous year.

- Inflows into the region's storages are expected to exceed future water commitments, which is likely to result in an increase in water assets at the end of the year.

- Rainfall was average to above average across most of the region during the first 11 months of the 2017–18 year (July–May), including very high rainfall over the lower Daly River area.
- The expected inflows for the 2017–18 year may be similar to the 2016–17 year, a period when similar above-average rainfall conditions were experienced across the region.
Future commitments
- 2017–18 rainfall was similar to last year, which usually means users have a similar reliance on water sourced directly from surface water and groundwater stores.
