The National Water Account Roadmap lays out how the Bureau, in partnership with participating agencies, will proceed with a Methods Pilot of the NWA by the end of 2009 and a first NWA a year later.
The Roadmap also aims to show how the NWA will evolve and improve over time, beyond production of the first NWA in 2010. Key expectations are improving accuracy as estimation and measurement techniques, and monitoring and reporting systems improve and improving resolution as capacity increases.
The development of the roadmap was been informed by discussion and consultation with relevant stakeholders and experts, including through the National Water Account Committee and a national workshop convened in December 2008. A report of this workshop is available.
