The Bureau of Meteorology’s Water Restrictions website provides access to current water restrictions information for the whole of Australia. Water restrictions information can be searched by State or Territory, water agency and restriction name. Water restriction names and rules vary throughout Australia due to local requirements.

Stage 1:

Gardens and Lawns may only be watered using:

> a manual watering system operating between the hours of 6am and 8am, and 8pm and 10pm on alternate days*.

> an automatic watering system operating within the hours of midnight and 4am on alternate days*.

> a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, a watering can or bucket at any time.

Hosing of paving, concrete and other hard surfaces is only permitted for construction purposes or to prevent health and safety hazards.

Vehicles:

> may only be cleaned by a bucket, high pressure cleaning device or commercial car wash at any time.

> a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle may be used to pre-rinse and rinse.

Fountain or Water Feature: A fountain or water feature may only be operated if it recirculates water used, and is filled or topped up by a hand- held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle or by a watering can or bucket.

Animal Husbandry:

> Water for cleaning animals and birds is permitted.

> Cleaning of pens, yards and cages may be done using a hose fitted with a trigger nozzle.

Market Garden or Plant Nursery: No restriction applies to a market garden or plant nursery.

Food Transport Vehicle: If necessary for health reasons or to avoid contamination, water may only be used to clean inside a food transport vehicle by a high pressure water cleaning device or a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle.

Construction Industry Water may be used:

> by a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or other container

>by construction equipment which requires a water supply for its safe and efficient operation

> for water used in the normal course of initial testing or flushing of pipes or other works.

Restrictions By-Law.:

Stage 1 Alternate days:

> Even street numbers water on even dates of the month.

> Odd street numbers water on odd dates of the month.

> If no street number, water on even dates of the month. > 31st day of month, all may water.

Swimming Pools or Spas:

> A new or existing pool or spa with a capacity of less than 2000 litres may be filled by a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, or by a watering can or bucket.

>Approval from GWMWater is required for a new or existing pool or spa with a capacity greater than 2000 litres or more to be filled.

>An existing pool or spa may only be topped up by a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, or by a watering can or bucket.

Ponds or Lakes:

> A new pond or lake may only be filled with the written permission of GWMWater.

> An existing pond or lake may only be topped up by a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle or a watering can or bucket.

Water Toy: A toy operated by running water supplied through a hose must not be used at any time.

Public Garden, Sports Grounds and School Grounds: Unless a Water Conservation Plan approved by GWMWater applies, gardens and grounds may only be watered using:

> a manual watering system operating between the hours of 6am and 10am, and 8pm and midnight on alternate days*.

> an automatic watering system operating within the hours of midnight and 8am on alternate days*.

> a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, a watering can or bucket at any time.

Building Facade or Windows: A building facade, roof, windows or blinds of that building may be cleaned using a bucket filled directly from a tap. The new water restriction levels are based on the Victorian Government's uniform four-stage restriction policy as adopted by GWMWater.
