Water Restrictions

The Bureau of Meteorology’s Water Restrictions website provides access to current water restrictions information for the whole of Australia. Water restrictions information can be searched by State or Territory, water agency and restriction name. Water restriction names and rules vary throughout Australia due to local requirements.

Description summary:

No watering of public parks, gardens, roundabouts or Council-owned sporting facilities with treated water, although bore/groundwater water can continue to be used where available.

All residential outdoor use of treated/town/Council water is banned.

Recycled, greywater and rainwater can be used. Rainwater tanks can only be approved by Council and a sign issued if they are stand-alone and not able to be switched to the treated supply.

Trickle feed tanks that are connected to the town water supply for refilling cannot be used for outdoor watering.

All outdoor industrial and commercial watering of green areas is banned.

Cleaning of vehicle windows, windscreens and mirrors can be done for safety purposes with buckets only.

Filling or topping up of pools using town water is banned.
