Water Data Transfer Standards

The Bureau has worked with CSIRO to develop the Water Data Transfer Format (WDTF). The Bureau is moving towards requiring all water regulations data to be sent in WDTF.

Through the Standards Forum and the WDTF Expert Panel the Bureau will work with the water industry to develop a Version 2 release of WDTF and will test validation and mapping tools.

The Bureau through The Modernisation and Extension of Hydrologic Monitoring Systems Program has funded projects to enable data managers to send data in WDTF. Many IT/data management companies have undertaken work to assist organisations' to implement functionality to enable data transfer to the Bureau in WDTF as part of the Program.
