To secure the long term water supply of all Australians, the Australian Government has announced Water for the Future, a $12.9 billion water investment program. This includes $450 million for the 'Improving Water Information Program' administered by the Bureau of Meteorology and backed by the Commonwealth Water Act 2007 and key stakeholders. To support its expanded role in water information, the Bureau is building a world-class team of talented and innovative professionals. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Geographic Information Services (GIS) Officer.
This role will provide GIS support services to the Water Division including acquiring and managing data and providing GIS based products to clients. The successful applicant will possess sound knowledge of geospatial data, analysis and systems and their development and application. Familiarity with hydrological geospatial data models and water data information systems would be advantageous.
