Industry Liaison and Communication Manager

Through the Commonwealth Water Act 2007 and the Water for the Future program, the Australian Government has given the Bureau of Meteorology responsibility for compiling and delivering comprehensive information on Australia's valuable water resources. The Bureau of Meteorology is working with water managers across Australia to deliver high quality, national water information to government, industry and the community.

A small communication and adoption team has been established within the Bureau's Water Division to support our water information responsibilities. Our success relies on our ability to communicate and respond effectively to a wide range of stakeholder groups across industry sectors and within the Bureau.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Industry Liaison and Communication Manager who enjoys working in a close and dynamic team environment to achieve practical environmental outcomes benefiting Australia. This maternity leave position offers applicants the opportunity to make a major contribution as we commence our delivery of water information.

We are offering a non-ongoing opportunity to fill a maternity leave replacement position from mid-January 2010 to late-February 2011, with the possibility of extension. We have allowed for a two week handover with the current incumbent to allow for a smooth transition into the role.

This senior, nationally-focused role is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating key elements of the Bureau's Water Information Communication and Adoption Strategic Plan, including managing stakeholder communication to external and internal stakeholders.

The successful applicant will have high-level communication and adoption (marketing) skills-including experience managing communication and adoption activities. An appreciation of the Australian water industry is desirable but not essential.
