Australia has a unique combination of location, size and climate. The effective management of our water resources is critical to the well-being of over 20 million people, our industry, precious environmental assets and commercial infrastructure. To address the threat of future water scarcity, the Australian Government has embarked on a multi-billion dollar, rapid national water reform agenda.
As part of a package to accelerate the pace of reform, the Bureau of Meteorology has been given the responsibility to transform Australia's water information. Backed by key stakeholders, AUD$450 million and legislative powers, the water information initiative will deliver national water resource accounts and assessments through the development and maintenance of a freely accessible, integrated, water information system - the Australian Water Resources Information System (AWRIS).
To succeed we must build a world-class team of 120 highly innovative and committed professionals to help deliver our water information services around Australia.
For innovative, ambitious specialists, there has never been a more exciting or rewarding environment. The sheer scope and complexity will test even the most experienced mind and continuously challenge your thinking.
