Supervising Hydrologist
Melbourne or Canberra

Through the Commonwealth Water Act 2007, the Australian Government has given the Bureau of Meteorology responsibility for compiling and delivering comprehensive water information across the water sector. As part of the Australian Government’s Water for the Future program, the Bureau has been allocated $450 million to transform the availability and utility value of the nation’s water information. To achieve this, the Bureau has established a new Division of water specialists and is now working closely with water managers across Australia to deliver high quality water information to government, industry and the community.

So far, about 100 new staff have been appointed to the water information program and we are now finalising our recruitment campaign. We are currently offering five ongoing positions for experienced professionals who want to contribute to this exciting national effort.

This role conceptualises, designs and implements frameworks, workflows and models involved in the preparation of annual water resources assessment and national water accounts, with an emphasis on urban water supply systems. The opportunity exists in Melbourne (Head office) or Canberra. Location may be negotiable, depending on the requirements of the individual and the Bureau.

If you have the requisite skills and a desire to work with a large and dynamic team at the cutting edge of environmental information, we encourage you to apply.
