Australian Weather Forecast Districts
There are 86 numbered forecast
districts. Forecasts are produced twice a day for each
forecast district for up to 4 days in advance. Forecast
districts were initially developed in 1910, based on
areas sharing common meteorological characteristics.
Over time, these boundaries have been adjusted to suit
operational forecasting requirements or to be consistent
with boundaries used by other government agencies.
