Area affected NE Arnhem Land, to SE of Darwin to Wyndham
Central pressure Lowest estimated 990 hPa when north of Wyndham.
Winds Gales limited to 90km around storm centre.. Highest gust at Darwin Aero was 76 km/h on the 29th. Wind gusts 60kts(110km/h) at Wyndham. Sustained winds 45-50kts (85/90km/h) in Joseph Bonaparte Gulf.
Rainfall Very heavy rain on north coast. Highest 24hr totals, 158mm at Elcho Is. on 27th, 152mm at Goulburn Is. on 28th, and 142mm at Milingimbi on 28th. Heaviest rain fell in Darwin area; 443mm at Noonamah and 288mm at Darwin Aero. on 27th and 28th. Record December rainfall for Darwin (583mm).
Seas & storm surge Very rough near cyclone. Oil exploration ships based at Elcho Is. suspended operations.
Damage Two oil exploration radio towers damaged on Abbot and Darcy Islands. Minor damage in Darwin. Extensive flooding in streams south of Darwin. Highway cut.
