Area affected West Gulf of Carpentaria.
Central pressure Lowest recorded 993 hPa on Groote Eylandt on the 15th.
Winds Strongest winds (est) 83 km/h along NE Arnhem Land coast.
Rainfall Heavy rain on East Arnhem Land coast, highest around Groote Eylandt. Highest 24hr totals 425mm on 15th at Angurugu Mission, 381mm at Umbakumba and 176mm at Numbulwar. Cumulative 6 day totals exceeded 760mm on Groote Eylandt.
Seas & storm surge Rough seas and a heavy swell reported from coastal areas at time of cyclone.
Damage Two barges and two launches damaged on Groote and 3 small boats at Angurugu. Highway and railway cut. Roper River Mission storage dam wall gave way. On Groote Eylandt several bridges severely damaged. No reports of major structural damage due to wind.
