Area affected Gulf of Carpentaria, Cape York, Coral Sea
Central pressure Lowest estimated 950 hPa on 7th.
Winds Highest observed wind gusts 129 km/h by yacht in mouth of Johnstone River.
Rainfall Highest 24hr fall 351mm at Cooktown. No significant falls in N.T.
Seas & storm surge Very rough seas in Gulf of Carpentaria. Pronounced storm surge near Cape Keer-Weer on Cape York Peninsula where sea animals were washed ashore.
Damage Some damage to buildings and power lines at Edward River Mission. $200,000 damage at Aurukun. Severe damage to vegetation in Cape Keer-Weer area.
