Area affected Coral Sea, Cape York, Gulf of Carpentaria, Top End north coast, Tiwi Islands, Timor Sea, Kimberley.
Central pressure Minimum recorded pressure was 967.4 hPa at Truscott on the 16th.
Winds A freight barge near the Wessel Islands reported 90 knot (166 km/h) winds on the 12th. McCluer Island recorded a maximum mean wind speed of 83 knots (153 km/h), and a maximum gust of 112 knots (207 km/h) on the 13th.
Rainfall Heavy rain affected the north Kimberley and the Victoria River District. Truscott recorded 438 mm in the 24 hours to 9am on the 16th, and Wyndham recorded a 48 hour total of 272 mm to 9am on the 17th. Gove recorded 192 mm to 9 am on the 12th.
Seas & storm surge Estimated storm surges: McCluer Island 2.5 metres, Port Essington 1.9m, and Truscott 5.5 metres. Very high to phenomenal seas near centre.
Damage Extreme damage to vegetation. Many buildings sustained damage. Sylvatech plantation investment operation on Melville Island lost around 3000 to 4000 hectares of plantation (uninsurable). Power and communications lost at several communities.
