- Observations were first performed by trained Meteorological staff in 1924 at Wagga Wagga aerodrome. Although the original site has changed, continuous observations have been carried out within the confines of the Wagga Wagga aerodrome since that date. Rainfall-only records for Wagga (Kooringal) are available back to the year 1871.

- 1945 Pluviograph installed (Dines syphoning) to measure rainfall intensity.

- 1965 Radar installed (WF2)
- 1968 Evaporation Pan installed (Class A)
- 1970 Radar upgraded to WF3 1971 and a Terrestrial Minimum Thermometer installed (Dobbie)
- 1972 Wind Run Anemometer installed (Rimco)
- 1986 Sunshine Recorder installed (Campbell-Stokes)
- 1994 Automatic Weather Station installed
- 1997 Radiation measurements commenced
- 1997 Radar upgraded to WF100-6C
- 1997 Soil temperature measurements commenced at 10cm, 20,50, 100cm depth
