The History of Floods in South Australia

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Publication of the book 'Floods in South Australia: 1836 - 2005' marked the completion of the project which involved work-for-the-dole participants.There is an awareness amongst the editors of the book that additionalinformation relating to floods in South Australia may be held by private individuals. Individuals holding such records are encouraged to contact the project manager at the Bureau of Meteorology,Adelaide, S.A. ( flood_history@bom.gov.au)

The types of information we require are the following -

  • Dates of floods
  • Photos, sketches, paintings, etc of flood events
  • Anecdotes of personal flood experiences, whether first or second hand
  • Descriptions of the extent of flood events
  • Rainfall records
  • Environmental or social effects of flooding
  • Any mitigation works undertaken as a result of flooding
  • Pres cuttings relating to floods
