In the metropolitan area project participants have or are engaged in the following tasks -

  • Research of newspapers and press at the Advertiser building and the State Library of South Australia
  • Research of information from local authorities and flood plain studies
  • Pursuit of information from agencies throughout the state
  • Research of flood event history from indigenous groups including research of the dreamtime for flood history
  • Research of the Hodges Collection
  • Research of palaeontologic, sedimentologic and geomorphologic sources for flood related information
  • Pursuit of information about floods in the outback

In the country area participants were occupied with (now completed) -

  • Research for flood event information in local centres such as libraries
  • Researching local newspapers

A Participants Manual, setting out the tasks, responsibilities, duties and conditions of the WDPP in detail, together with a resource pack is provided to every WDPP upon appointment.

Each WDPP is supervised and given guidance in their work by their supervisor. If any problems are encountered by any WDPP they may discuss this with their supervisor, Community Work Coordinator (CWC), or, if necessary, with the Project Manager, David McCarthy.
