UV Alert and Index values via FTP

The UV Index graphs and values for cities and towns around Australia are freely available on the Bureau's FTP site.

UV Index Graphs: IDYGP005

  • The graphs files for each location are identified by the name and state of the location within the filename. The graphs are produced at approximately 6:35am EST each day.

UV Alert and Index values: IDYGP007

  • The UV Alert and Index Data is available in fixed width text format and is designed to be easily read by computer processes. This file is produced at approximately 5:35pm EST each day, and may be updated whenever there is a change in its contents.  

The IDYGP007 product exists as a ".txt" file whose contents is a series of rows, each row contains UV forecast information for one particular location. A description of the data in the UV Alert and Index file follows:

"No UV Alert" is displayed when the UV index forecast is below 3.
