Hurricane Force Wind Warning issued by TCWC Melbourne for Severe Tropical
Cyclone "Maila".

Part 2 Situation at 081800 UTC
Severe Tropical Cyclone "Maila" 941hPa near 8.6S155.4E. Forecast Severe
Tropical Cyclone "Maila" 961hPa near 9.3S153.9E at 100000UTC.

Part 3 Forecast

East of line EQ160E 18S162E 25S170E and west of line 06S148E 14S148E:
Winds not exceeding 20 knots. Slight to moderate seas. Low to moderate swell.

Remainder, outside of warning area:
Southeasterly quarter winds, shifting westerly quarter north of 08S, and
turning clockwise within 360nm of Severe Tropical Cyclone "Maila". Wind speeds
15/25 knots, increasing to 25/33 knots within 360nm of Severe Tropical Cyclone
"Maila". Moderate to rough seas, increasing to very rough within 360nm of
Severe Tropical Cyclone "Maila". Low to moderate swell, increasing to heavy
swell within 180nm of Severe Tropical Cyclone "Maila".

Rain areas, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms throughout, becoming
heavy at times within 240nm of Tropical Cyclone "Maila" and north of line
15S149E 17S169E. Visibility reducing below 2nm in precipitation.

than the forecast, and stronger still in squalls and thunderstorms. Maximum
waves can be twice the forecast height.
