Coastal Waters Forecast for South Australia

Weather Situation

A ridge of high pressure persists over southern parts of SA for much of the coming week. A trough about the north of the state will move south and deepen over the weekend, before pushing into the far northeast on Monday as the high centre moves into the Bight. Most of the state will be dominated by the ridge of high pressure on Tuesday, but is forecast to weaken as another trough enters from the west.

Far West Coast: WA-SA Border to Fowlers Bay

Forecast for Saturday 7 February until midnight

Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore during the afternoon and evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres offshore during the afternoon. Swell: Southwesterly 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1.5 metres later in the evening. Weather: Partly cloudy.

Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres. 1st Swell: Southwesterly 1.5 metres. 2nd Swell: Southeasterly around 1 metre. Weather: Partly cloudy. The chance of a thunderstorm offshore in the morning.

Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres. Swell: Southwesterly 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to around 1 metre during the morning. Weather: Partly cloudy.

Upper West Coast: Fowlers Bay to Elliston

Forecast for Saturday 7 February until midnight

Winds: South to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots south of Streaky Bay during the afternoon and evening. Seas: Around 1 metre, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres around midday. Swell: Southwesterly 1.5 to 2 metres. Weather: Sunny.

Forecast for Sunday 8 February

Winds: South to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots inshore in the late afternoon. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres during the afternoon. Swell: Southwesterly 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres south of Streaky Bay. Weather: Sunny.
