Notes on Limited Implementation of Cookies within the
Flood Warning Centre Pages

Summary

  • Cookies have been implemented within the Flood Warning Centre pages to significantly improve the display of the rainfall and river height data maps. The cookies allow the system to remember what data type you selected last and whether you have selected the clickable versions of the maps. Without the use of cookies, every time you change to a different view of the map, the data type defaults to the 9am rainfall, and to the non-clickable version.
  • The cookies used here are temporary and expire within three hours of the last use.
  • The cookies used here do not monitor any personal information including the pattern of use, etc.
  • The only data they store are the last data type selected, whether the clickable version has been selected, and some basic fixed parameters such as the cookie name, and the specific URL where it is applicable.
  • If you decide to disable cookies for any reason, the displays will continue to function and use a default of displaying the 9am Rainfall and the non-clickable version on entry to all pages.
