A cold front will cross Bass Strait during Thursday night and early Friday. A second cold front crosses Bass Strait on Friday night and during Saturday, turning winds southwesterly. Winds easing from Sunday as a high pressure system moves into the Bight, directing a ridge of high pressure over northern Victoria and maintaining a mostly westerly flow over Victorian waters.

Gale Warning for Friday for Central Gippsland Coast

- Northwesterly 15 to 20 knots turning westerly 20 to 30 knots early in the morning. Winds reaching up to 35 knots in the late morning and afternoon.

- 1 to 2 metres, increasing to 2 to 4 metres during the morning.
- Swell
- West to southwesterly around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning, then tending westerly 2 to 3 metres around midday.
