A strong ridge of high pressure builds over the state today. The ridge will linger as the high centre is expected to move over Tasmania on Saturday and out to the Tasman Sea on Sunday, directing a northerly flow over the state on Monday.

- West to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots tending west to northwesterly in the early afternoon then becoming variable about 10 knots in the late evening.

- Southerly below 1 metre inshore, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore.

- Mostly sunny.

- Variable about 10 knots becoming northeasterly 10 to 15 knots in the morning.
