Lake Eyre Basin - November 2016

Total rainfall was 10 mm, 47% lower than the 1980 to 2015 average of 19 mm.

Highest on record and very much above average rainfall did not occur.

Above average rainfall occurred across 8% of the area, predominantly in the centre.

Average rainfall occurred across 71% of the area, spread throughout the drainage division.

Below average rainfall occurred across 16% of the area, mainly in the northeast and the south.

Very much below average rainfall occurred across 5% of the area, mainly in the northeast and the far south.

Lowest on record rainfall was limited to less than 1% of the area.

Highest on record flow occurred in the Diamantina River at Birdsville in the centre which had the highest streamflow for November since 1980.

Very much above average and above average flows did not occur.

Average flows occurred at two of the six sites, located in the east.

Below average flows occurred at 50% of the sites. These were located in the central east.

Very much below average and lowest on record flows did not occur.
