Below is a list of definitions of terms used by the SVSLRF. We accept that some of these terms may have different meanings when used in other contexts, but for the purposes of this study the definitions below are what is meant.

SVSLRF: Standardised Verification System for Long Range Forecasts.
upper/lower tercile: refers to the upper/lower tercile categories, i.e. 67-100/0-33.
ROC: Relative Operating Characteristics
MSSS: Mean Square Skill Score.
