Mean maximum temperatures were near average or above average across much of WA in November 2014, whilst areas of very much above average mean maxima were recorded in the west Kimberley, Southern Interior and Eucla, with the Southern Interior and Eucla recording maximum temperatures 2 °C to 4 °C warmer than normal. Averaged across the State, the mean maximum temperature in November 2014 was 1.2 °C above the long-term average. For the Lower Southwest (southwest of a line from Jurien Bay to Bremer Bay), November 2014 was also above average.
Apart from western WA and parts of northern WA, mean minimum temperatures were above average to very much above average for most of the State. Mean minimum temperatures were 2 °C to 4 °C warmer than normal in the western Northern Interior, eastern Southern Interior and Eucla. Averaged across the State, the mean minimum temperature in November 2014 was well above the long-term average and ranked as the equal ninth warmest November since comparable records commenced in 1910. Most WA districts had sites that reported very much above average rainfall, except for the Lower West and Southwest, as thunderstorm events were common during the month, with a sites in the Central West, Eucla and South Coastal recording their wettest November on record. When averaged across the State as a whole, rainfall in November 2014 was above average, as was total rainfall averaged across the SWLD, however the Lower Southwest recorded near average rainfall.
- Equal ninth warmest November for WA in terms of State-wide mean minimum temperature
- High minimum temperatures in the west Kimberley in the second half of November and Broome Airport recorded three nights exceeding the previous record high minimum temperature for November
- Frequent thunderstorms occurred in the north with some heavy falls
- A middle level trough brought thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall to central and southern WA from the 11th to 14th with daily rainfall records for November reported at Balladonia and Rawlinna Depot in the Eucla, whilst Nalyerlup in the South Coastal equalled its previous record, before breaking it later in the month. Balladonia also reported its lowest November maximum temperature on the 13th as a result of the persistent cloud and rain
- A trough and a low off the west coast saw widespread thunderstorms across the State with moderate to heavy rainfall reported in western and central parts on the 26th and 27th. November daily rainfall records were registered at a few sites in the SWLD, including at Nalyerlup in the South Coastal where earlier in the month the previous record had been equalled, and the southern Goldfields as severe thunderstorms were reported with intense rainfall, hail, and severe wind gusts.

Extremes Maps Records Summaries Important notes the top
Notes
A Monthly Climate Summary is prepared to list the main features of the weather in Western Australia using the most timely and accurate information available on the date of publication; it will generally not be updated. Later information, including data that has had greater opportunity for quality control, will be presented in the Monthly Weather Review, usually published in the fourth week of the month.
A Climate Summary is generally published on the first working day of each month.
This statement has been prepared based on information available at 11 am on Monday 1 December 2014. Some checks have been made on the data, but it is possible that results will change as new information becomes available.
Averages for individual sites are long-term means based on observations from
all available years of record, which vary widely from site to site.
They are not shown for sites with less than 10 years of record, as they cannot then be calculated reliably.
The median
is sometimes more representative than the
mean
of long-term average rain.
The Rank indicates how rainfall this time compares with the climate record for the site,
based on the
decile ranking
(very low rainfall is in decile 1, low in decile 2 or 3,
average in decile 4 to 7, high in decile 8 or 9
and very high is in decile 10).
The Fraction of average shows how much rain has fallen this time as a
percentage of the long-term mean.
The ACORN-SAT dataset is used for temperature area averages.
