In the latest BOM Weather app release – available in app stores today – we've added rain notifications and hourly UV Index forecasts.
Rain notifications
For anyone working outside, planning an outdoor event or simply trying to get some washing dry, this is a handy new feature in the BOM Weather app.
Rain notifications are a much-requested addition to the app’s popular warning notifications.
You can set up rain notifications for up to 3 locations. Once set up, you'll get a notification when there's a 50% chance of at least 0.2 mm of rainfall in the next half hour.
Getting set up is easy, visit Weather app help and support or watch the video below to learn how.
Get notified up to 30 minutes before rain is expected.
Head to the menu in the top right and tap notifications.
Select your location.
Toggle the rain notification on.
Set up rain notifications for up to 3 locations.
If you're travelling, update your location to get rain notifications for that area.

Hourly UV Index
We've added the hourly forecast UV Index to help you plan your sun protection. To see the forecast UV Index for the coming hours, select 'Humidity and UV' in the hourly table.
