Issued: 18 December 2025

The Bureau of Meteorology has today issued the latest 7-day forecast, which includes the forecast for Christmas Day across Australia.

With the forecast conditions for each state and territory now known, it’s time to make the final preparations for the festive season with the expected weather in mind.

It will be a varied Christmas Day across the country, with cool conditions across much of the south-east compared to an expected hot day in Perth, and hot and stormy conditions for much of the Northern Territory.

It looks to be relatively cool to mild across the far south-east, with showers for western and northern Tasmania, but mostly dry for Victoria and South Australia.

The forecast is partly cloudy with a risk of showers for eastern New South Wales in onshore winds; generally dry and sunny elsewhere, with above average temperatures forecast for north-east NSW and southern Queensland.

Showers and storms are forecast for large parts of Queensland, including the south-east, and the tropical north, while it will be a hot and dry Christmas Day for southern Western Australia.

It is important to note that the forecast may change as Christmas Day approaches and our weather forecasts are refined. Stay up to date with the forecast over the coming days via the Bureau’s website www.bom.gov.au and the BOM Weather App.
