Responding to community feedback
The latest round of website updates are now live.
Based on your feedback, we have:
- made your recently visited locations accessible wherever you search
- made it easier to get to Doppler wind and estimated rainfall radar images
- added more town, city and place names to the weather map
- improved location error messages and Apple iOS home screen shortcuts.
Today's update follows the 5 May website update when we added more place names to the weather map, improved map controls and navigation, and added a forecast snow layer.
Rain radar and weather maps
Visit the Rain radar and weather maps page to see these changes:
- recently visited locations in map search
- more town, city and place names on the map
- fog and snow animations aligned to forecast grids.
In this update, we've added about 600 place names to the map. Some place names only appear as you zoom in. This helps keep the map easy to read and makes it easier to select locations on a range of devices.
Search and navigation
We've listened to your feedback and made changes to help you find weather information faster.
The last 5 locations you visited now appear wherever you search for a location across weather maps, specialised maps, and warnings and alerts. Favourite locations are marked with a star icon.
We've also reduced the number of clicks needed to reach Doppler wind and estimated rainfall radar images from the More radars tab.
Coming soon
We're working on more improvements to the rain radar, including:
- clickable radar site icons
- quick links to radar locations on the map
- radar range rings.
Thank you for your feedback. Please keep telling us what you like, and what website improvements you're keen to see.
