Find out how to submit water markets information for the Murray–Darling Basin
Water markets reporting
You may have to provide information relating to water markets to the Bureau of Meteorology if your organisation is a:
- government agency
- irrigation infrastructure operator
- trading platform operator.
There are legal requirements to report:
- water markets decisions from 1 July 2026
- specified water markets information from 1 July 2027.
The aim is to improve the availability, consistency and transparency of information about water markets activity in the Murray–Darling Basin.
Submit water markets data – Water Data Hub
Organisations can use the Water Data Hub to submit Murray–Darling Basin:
- water markets decisions (Part 5A) from 1 July 2026
- water markets information (Part 7A) from 1 July 2027. There will be opportunities to test this before reporting starts.
Data providers submit information in the hub by:
- application programming interface (API)
- secure file transfer protocol (SFTP)
- file upload
- form entry.
