Hello, it's Miriam at the Bureau, with your national weather forecast for tomorrow, Thursday the 25th of December, Christmas Day.
And we'll also take a quick look ahead at Friday's forecast too, for a picture of what your Boxing Day might look like.
First though, we'll take a look at our weather map for Christmas Day.
Now, we are continuing to see the active monsoon trough lying across northern parts of the country, with a couple of other low pressure troughs in the vicinity as well. They'll continue to generate significant cloud, showers, thunderstorms and heavy falls through much of northern Australia, pulling down to even parts of south-east Queensland as well.
Further south, we've got a large, strong high pressure system sitting over the Great Australian Bight. That's going to bring cool, at times windy and showery weather to the south-east of the country, with some showers for the east coast as well.
But generally drier and sunnier weather is expected for South Australia and the west. In fact, very hot conditions are expected across the west coast for our Christmas Day.
Let's take a state-by-state look at our Christmas forecast now, starting with Queensland.
Widespread severe thunderstorms, with the risk of heavy to locally intense falls, are possible across much of Queensland on Christmas Day, mainly through the northern, central and eastern parts of the state.
It will be a day to keep an eye out for any Severe Thunderstorm Warnings we do need to issue across the day. We do have Flood Watches in place for parts of the west and north-west of the state too.
Across the southern inland and far south-west, we are looking at more settled conditions for our Christmas Day, drier with more sunshine on the way there.
For Brisbane for Christmas Day, we are looking at a top of 33°C.
In New South Wales, we are expecting to see a generally settled day ahead for Christmas. A few showers along the east coast, but they should be fairly patchy for the most part and not bring us too much rainfall to the gauges.
We could see a rumble of thunder or two across the north-eastern parts of the state, however, mainly likely to impact the Northern Rivers and northern parts of the Mid North Coast district.
Across inland parts of the state, sunnier and more settled weather is expected. We will see mild conditions through the south, tending warmer in the north.
For Sydney, we are expecting a top of 23°C and a shower or two tomorrow. Down in Canberra, partly cloudy with a top of 28°C.
In Victoria tomorrow, we are looking at mostly cloudy conditions on and south of the ranges, with a few showers moving through too, although rainfall totals will be on the lower side of things. Fresh winds at times as well, pushing up from the south.
North of the ranges, drier and sunnier weather is expected, with milder conditions as well.
For Melbourne, we are looking at a possible shower or two on the forecast, a mostly grey day with a top of 17°C.
Down in Tasmania, we are expecting to see south-westerly flow moving across the state. Cold conditions for Christmas Day, with showers across those western and southern areas, but a few isolated showers pushing through the east as well.
Those showers could fall as snow above 700 metres about the peaks in the west and south, so it will be a very chilly Christmas Day ahead.
For Hobart, we are looking at a shower or two on the forecast and a top of 15°C.
In South Australia, we are looking at a generally settled day for our Christmas. Partly cloudy across those southern parts of the state in the morning, generally clearing to a sunnier day across the state.
Winds will be fresh at times, however, coming in from the south to south-east.
For Adelaide, we are looking at some early cloud clearing through the day, with a top of 25°C on the forecast.
In Western Australia tomorrow, it will be a hot to very hot day across the state. Temperatures well above average — up to 15°C above average in the far south-west.
We're also likely to see elevated fire dangers across those western districts tomorrow, with Extreme Fire Dangers for parts of the central west.
This low pressure trough you can see here is also likely to generate dry, gusty thunderstorms at times during the day, which may reach as far south as Perth.
We are generally looking at more showery conditions in the far north of the state, but otherwise it will be dry and sunny.
For Perth, we're heading for a top of 40°C for our Christmas Day.
In the Northern Territory tomorrow, there is the chance of showers and thunderstorms across much of the northern and central districts, with the risk of heavy falls as well.
We do have a Flood Watch in place for some of those north-eastern districts. In the far south, we are expecting sunnier and drier conditions.
For Darwin, though, it will be a shower or two on the forecast, a possible thunderstorm and a top of 32°C.
Taking a quick look now at our Boxing Day, we are likely to see the monsoon trough lingering through northern parts of the country, with a couple of other low pressure troughs there as well, helping to generate once again that risk of showers and storms across widespread parts of the north.
We are likely to see a little bit of a clearance from southern parts of Queensland, so Brisbane is really only looking at a shower or two for our Boxing Day.
A few showers lingering about the east coast and in the far south-east as well, but still staying fairly cool through those areas.
In the west, our low pressure trough is moving inland, which means we are likely to see a much milder day on the way for the west coast, remaining dry.
