Hello, it's Ilana here at the BOM, and I'm here with your national weather forecast for this weekend. Can you believe it? It is already the 1st and 2nd of August.

It is looking like quite a beautiful winter weekend for many to get out and about across the country.

We continue to have this high pressure system over south-east Australia bringing some frosty starts, but then clear and dry afternoons.

A few regions which will still see a few showers include western Tasmania and along the east coast of New South Wales and Queensland.

Out west, we have a weakening cold front which is sweeping through southern parts of Western Australia, bringing some showers to that region.

We'll now take a look state by state, and we'll start in Queensland, which is seeing a mostly settled day.

We'll start off with some morning frost through southern inland parts of the state, but once again for inland areas it will be a sunny and dry afternoon.

Closer to the coast we'll see an increase in cloud and some light onshore shower activity.

For Brisbane tomorrow, a top of 21°C.

It will be a partly cloudy day with the chance of an isolated shower.

New South Wales will see a very frosty start.

It will be freezing along and west of the ranges, and we'll also see plenty of fog along the east.

Although it will be dry for much of the state, we will see some light shower activity along the coastal regions from Wollongong and all the way up towards the northern border.

For Sydney tomorrow, a top of 18°C with an isolated shower possible.

For Canberra, it will be a mostly sunny day after a freezing start, with a top of 15°C.

Victoria is also set to see those freezing morning temperatures.

It will be the coldest morning of the week so far, and some places will even see their coldest morning of the year.

For Melbourne tomorrow, we'll drop to 2°C, with some morning fog and frost possible through some parts of the city.

It will then be a mostly sunny day with a top of 16°C.

Tasmania is going to see some north-westerly winds develop throughout the day, meaning our shower activity will be along the west, with some showers also developing along the north.

Launceston could see a shower with a top of 14°C tomorrow, and for Hobart it will be dry and cloudy with a top of 15°C.

South Australia is seeing a mostly settled day.

Once again, we'll have some morning frost through northern parts of our agricultural area and even further north into our pastoral districts.

Then it will be a dry and clear day.

Adelaide will see a top of 15°C.

In Western Australia, we have a weakening cold front moving through southern parts of the state.

We'll have some shower activity which will start off in the South West Land Division and then extend further east, becoming lighter as it moves further inland.

With this system, we'll also see windier conditions near the south coast, as well as some large waves offshore.

For Perth tomorrow, some early morning showers are possible before clearing up for much of the day.

It will be a cooler day with a top of 17°C.

Up in the Northern Territory, a lot of rinse and repeat through central Australia.

A frosty start, with Alice Springs dropping to 1°C, then a sunny day with a top of 21°C.

Up in Darwin, 21°C tomorrow morning, then a sunny day with a top of 32°C.

We'll now take a look into Sunday, where once again we'll have a frosty start for parts of the east, and we'll also have these cool and clear conditions in the west behind that cold front.

However, this cold front is now moving through South Australia and approaching western Victoria.

What that means is for parts of South Australia and western Victoria, we'll start to see an increase in our northerly winds ahead of the front, and we'll also see some cloud and showers developing.

If we take a look at our capital cities across the country for Sunday, Brisbane will see 21°C, a partly cloudy day and a possible shower.

Sydney will have a mostly sunny day with 20°C, and Canberra will also be mostly sunny with a top of 16°C.

Into our south-east, Melbourne will see a sunny day with a top of 17°C, with a bit of an increase in wind expected, and Hobart will be partly cloudy with a top of 16°C.

Adelaide will have a dry and sunny start before a few showers develop, and out west Perth will have a sunny day with a top of 19°C.

Further north, both Broome and Darwin will have dry days with a top of 32°C, and Alice Springs will see 24°C.

To round things off, Cairns will have a few showers possible with a top of 26°C.

It is looking like a great weekend for many across the country to enjoy.
