This trough will bring showers and storms to south-eastern parts of the country, while onshore winds will continue to bring showers and storms to the east coast with a risk of damaging winds and large hail. Out west, a cold front will bring showers and storms there as well.
Isolated showers and storms are expected across northern and eastern districts of Queensland, with a few hit-and-miss storms about the south-west border area. Storms may be severe across south-eastern parts of the state, bringing damaging winds or large hail. Further inland, conditions will be dry and sunny. For Brisbane, expect a partly cloudy day with showers and the risk of an afternoon or evening severe storm, reaching a top of 28 degrees.
In New South Wales, isolated showers and storms in the west will shift into central and eastern districts during the day, becoming more widespread through southern parts. There’s a risk of severe thunderstorms throughout the north-east, bringing damaging winds and large hail. Daytime temperatures will be near average along the coast but up to eight degrees above average in the far west. For Sydney, a partly cloudy day with a shower or two and the risk of a storm during the afternoon or evening, with a top of 25 degrees. Canberra will see showers and the chance of a storm, reaching 24 degrees.
In Victoria, showers in the west will extend statewide during the morning, with a risk of thunderstorms throughout western and central parts. These will clear from the west during the afternoon and late evening. It will be mild to warm, grading to hot in the far north-west. For Melbourne, showers with the chance of a thunderstorm and a top of 23 degrees.
In Tasmania, isolated showers about the north-west will gradually extend across the state during the day. Daytime temperatures will be near average. Hobart will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower during the afternoon or evening, and a top of 21 degrees.
In South Australia, isolated showers and storms throughout central and eastern parts will gradually clear during the morning, leading to a dry and mostly sunny afternoon. For Adelaide, there’s a risk of a shower or storm early in the morning, clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon, with a top of 24 degrees.
In Western Australia, dry and hot north-westerly winds will keep temperatures high, but showers and storms will begin to push in during the day as a cold front approaches. For Perth, showers will increase with a top of 24 degrees.
Across the tropical north, typical for this time of year, there will be showers and storms—most likely during the afternoon across the Kimberley and the Top End. Further south through the interior, expect hot, dry, and sunny conditions. For Darwin, a shower or two and a possible thunderstorm, with a top of 34 degrees.
