Thank you for your feedback on our new website. Do keep it coming.
We have just published an update on the website and you can head to www.bom.gov.au to see your feedback in action.
Firstly, we've added today's forecast into the seven day forecast. Many of you told us it was important to see today's forecast, when you look at the forecast for the next seven days. And now you can by clicking on the seven day tab. Right here at the top is today. Click the arrow on the right-hand side to expand for more information.
We've also made some improvements to our search functionality. We've made it possible to search by postcode, state, territory and district, and let's see that in action. From the homepage of the website, you can search by clicking the magnifying glass on the top right-hand side. For today, let's search for Ceduna by putting in the postcode. This will bring Ceduna to the very top of your results list. You can click on that and go straight to the forecast page.
We have also made some improvements to the rain radar, which we can see by clicking the 'Rain radar and weather map' button on the right-hand side. We've made it possible to overlay radar coverage. To do so, go into the options on the top right-hand side, underneath 'Map settings', let's turn on radar coverage. This will help you identify areas in Australia where radar coverage is less reliable.
Typically, radars are most accurate up to 200 km from the radar site. Sometimes you might still see some rainfall signals outside of these 200 km rings. Typically, this rain out here is high up in the atmosphere and may not always match conditions on the ground underneath it, making these rainfall signals less reliable.
Please keep sending in your feedback. Tell us what you like and tell us what improvements you would like to see. You can submit feedback at any time on the website and by selecting the 'Feedback' tab on the right-hand side. This will open a feedback window, you can fill out a short form and let us know what you think.
Keep an eye out for our next update, where we'll be adding more towns and places of interest onto the base maps, and we'll be adding alpine weather just in time for ski season.
And don't forget, you can always find tips and troubleshooting advice by heading into bom.gov.au/website-help. Or if you're on the website, from any page, you can scroll down to the bottom and select 'Website help'.
