Hello from the Bureau, with your weekly weather wrap from today, Sunday the 22nd of March.

Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle brought heavy rain and damaging wind when moving into the Northern Territory overnight, making landfall this morning, after having affected north Queensland. Another day of possible storms through northern New South Wales and south-east Queensland today, and some showers for the south of Western Australia.

Into the new week, rain in the Northern Territory will remain a focus, with Narelle also impacting the Kimberley in Western Australia. A new weather feature develops to the south, with a band of rain extending from the south coast of Western Australia to Tasmania, with low to moderate totals.

That band in the south drifts east on Tuesday, bringing hit and miss showers and storms across Victoria which could impact spraying operations. Showers along the east coast could accumulate some locally moderate rainfall totals between Newcastle and Mackay.

The impacts from Narelle will be clearing out of the tropics on Wednesday, but a typical scatter of wet season showers and storms will persist. Much of southern Australia could see further showers and storms, with showers also expected about the east coast.

Rain on Thursday for opposite ends of Australia with storms in the north-west with Narelle still lingering off the Pilbara coast, while at the same time, a punchy cold front is forecast for the south-east. Chilly winds and showers for Tasmania, Victoria and southern New South Wales, and a dusting of snow up in the mountains.

It will remain dry through the centre on Friday, with watchpoints both in the west and east. Moisture from Narelle could see welcome rain increasing about central and southern Western Australia ahead of sowing season, and rain may persist for parts of Victoria and New South Wales following Thursday's cold front.

Keep up to date with the forecasts at the Bureau's website. Thanks for watching, we'll see you next time.
