Data layers

The data available in MetEye is described in the Metadata information page.

Further detail is in the Descriptions of data layers section.

Coverage of the layers

  • All latest weather and cloud cover (satellite) data layers are available for the whole of Australia.
  • The latest rain radar coverage is restricted to those areas which have a radar. The optimal coverage map shows the areas covered.
  • Sea Surface Temperature (SST) is derived from observations and meteorological satellites and covers the broader ocean area surrounding Australia.

Issue and Update times

The data available under Latest Weather is updated with the latest information as shown by the update time. Data could be issued at any time as some data is updated every six minutes (Latest Rain Radar) or fifteen minutes and other data is updated every half hour or hour.

Note: If you want to check when the layer was last updated then this information is displayed, in the left-hand menu, below each item that has been selected.
