Explanation of sunshine hours

The bright sunshine data that were used in producing these maps are results from the Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorders (shown here).

Approximately 90 stations were used in the analyses. Most of these stations have at least 15 years of records, with at least 80% complete data over the recorded period.
