Climate of Moree


Moree has long warm to hot summers, moderate and variable rainfall and a winter of cool clear days and cold frosty nights, with often a rapid transition of perhaps a month from summer to winter.

Halo ClimateTemperatures:
Average maximum temperatures range from  17C-19C in the winter to 33C in the summer months. Average minimum temperatures range from between 4C and 5C in the winter to between 18C and 20C in the summer.  In winter the minimum is below zero on an average of 10.4 days. In summer, on average, more than 25 days reach 35C or higher. Records show a slight increase in the minimum temperature with time.  At least part of this trend may be due to increased urbanization.

 

Rainfall:
The annual average rainfall for Moree is 585mm. Summer months usually provide the best falls, with the remaining months providing generally even falls. Summer rain tends to be more variable than winter rain due to the incidence of thunderstorms in summer.  The highest daily rainfall recorded in Moree was 161.8mm on the 9th of February 1888 and the highest monthly rainfall recorded was 461.3mm in March 1894. The highest annual rainfall recorded in Moree was 1107mm in 1894 and the lowest annual rainfall was 202.7mm in 1902.

CB2 climateHumidity: Humidity in Moree is generally quite low.  The 9 am mean relative humidity varies from 78% in June to 52% in November. At 3 pm it varies from 47% in June to 30% in November and December.

Frosts and Fogs:
Winter frosts are quite common (average 8 to 13 days a month).  Fogs are generally rare with only 1 or 2 days per month from May to September.
