A coordinate system for crossectional and longitudinal surveys. It defines a vertical axis, positive upwards in metres and
a horizontal axis also in metres. The direction of the horizontal axis is context depende For cross-sections where an end
point is specified it points horizontally towards the end poi Where an endpoint is not specified the path is considered perpendicular
to the flow of the river. For longitudinal surveys the direction changes for each section so as to follow the river along
the midsection of the river. It may be combined with a three dimensional datum, a two dimensional start point and vertical
datum or a three dimensional start point.
