Getting started

MetEye provides a whole new way to view Bureau data. You can:

  • quickly locate your place, to get a 7-day forecast
  • select the weather information you want to see
  • overlay your selected map layer with additional information
  • pan and zoom, to your local area anywhere in Australia
  • animate/loop a range of map layers (temperature, winds, waves etc.)
  • include other data sources such as radar and cloud from satellite

The MetEye window is divided into 7 main areas.

Example of the layout of the interface with each section highlighted and marked

  1. a Locate bar to take you to your area of interest
  2. a Timeline/Play/Pause area above the map
  3. a menu for map layer selection on the left (which can be hidden if needed)
  4. an interactive map window
  5. a link to the text based summary of the datasets in the map (Text Views)
  6. a legend for most data sets (which can be hidden if needed)
  7. a location marker and map overlay legend
